OUR PEOPLE
Ailsa Gardyne
Ailsa is the Treasurer of the Law Society. She is responsible for overseeing the Law Society’s sponsorships and expenses. Her role includes contacting law firms, creating invoices, paying bills and issue receipts, making recommendations to save costs, applying to grants, working on the Law Ball’s budget and preparing end-of-year accounts. Ailsa also works very closely with the Secretary to organise the sale of merchandise and with the Social Secretary to negotiate bars & clubs sponsorships.
In addition to her role, Ailsa wishes to create more networking opportunities between the law school staff and students.
Ailsa has a keen interest in family law, intellectual property and gender & the law.
When asked about why she joined the Law Society, she said: “I wanted to join the Law Society to maximise my opportunities at University. I initially joined as the second year representative to get experience within the committee but this year I have stepped up to the role of Treasurer. This is an office-bearing role with additional responsibility and I am excited to use this opportunity to advance my time keeping and organisational skills while entering my third year of my law degree.”
Because we also exist to make sure years at University are memorable, we shall mention our committee members favourite drink(s). If you’d like to offer Ailsa a drink, that won’t be a beer, a martini or a daiquiri that you should get, but a Cosmopolitan!
